About Islam - Londonistan Article

Londonistan is an an insulting pejorative sobriquet referring to London, used since 1995 by French counter-terrorism agents, because of the number of exiled Islamic groups that established political headquarters in the city, from which they may seek to overthrow governments they consider oppressive or tyranical. The term is accused by some of being "racist", especially after it was used as the title for a book by Melanie Phillips, voted most Islamophobic Journalist by the Islamic Human Rights Commission in 2003.

The term some how implies that london is overrun by Islamists, or Muslims, even though by far the most heavily Muslim populated borough in the whole country is Tower Hamlets, with a 35% Muslim population; still a minority. It also imples a foreign takeover, assuming all Muslims are foreigners from one of the Persio-Asian nations that use the word 'stan' translated as 'nation' in their names, e.g. Uzbekistan, Kazakhistan or Pakistan. This ignores the fact that these national origins only constitute around 40% of the Muslims in the UK, and ignores the estimated 200,000 white 'Anglo-Saxon' British Muslims.
