Diversity – Islam @ Work

Diversity matters to every single one of us. For businesses to not only survive, but to thrive, they need to be aware and sensitive to all members of our industry. This means that they need to learn to accept what is different and also how to respect people from different religious backgrounds within their work places.

CityMuslims is currently creating collaborative links between employee faith networks in the City and Corporate Diversity Managers to educate and advise on how Muslims can best practice their belief without fear of discrimination or isolation.

Meeting the diversity Challenges

CityMuslims is currently working to feed this information to a group of City diversity managers such they become more aware of Islam and issues related to the Islamic values and beliefs that Muslims adhere to.

  • Faith, leadership and ambition: how do they fit together?
  • Dealing with discrimination, prejudice & isolation?
  • Operating with integrity: is ethical decision-making practical?
  • How can we apply spiritual values in a non-spiritual environment?
  • Private or public: how much to share with colleagues?
  • Career or calling: what motivates us at work?
  • Can I apply for a prayer room at work?
  • Gap analysis: where does our behaviour fall short of our aspirations?
  • Are business and faith compatible?
  • Should I leave my faith at home when I come to work?

These are some of the challenges that Muslims may face within their own work places.  For more information please contact
